Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

BF/GF Relationships:
“I'm sick of getting hurt!”

Hey Terra,

I'm dating this 19 yr old guy and I'm 16. We have been going out for 2 months now. We are very good family friends and I guess that's great. But he is just acting weird now . He never calls me up I always call him, and everything is all about this other girl now who use to have a crush on him but he said he would never go out with her as she is not his type! I'm sick of getting hurt I just want to know if things will get better?

Confused

Dear Confused,

Your bf is hiding something from you. You say you're "sick of getting hurt" which may be why he's afraid to tell you what's going on. The way I read it, his lack of attention and his constant talk about the other girl is his way of ending his relationship with you.

It would be so much better if he were just honest and came out and said what he was feeling. Things aren't going to get better by themselves, you have to take the lead and have an open conversation with him about the future of this relationship. Otherwise, there won't be a future with this guy. (Which may not be a bad thing since he sounds like a bit of a wimp when it comes to talking about his true feelings.)

In friendship,

Terra
