Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

Parents:
“My sister is hitting me and my parents don't care.”

Hey Terra,

My sister likes to hit me for no reason. Why is that? I mean I don't do any thing to her but she always has a bad attitude and gives me bruises but I don't show my parents so they don't know. I just want her to stop hitting me.

Sincerely,

Bruised

Dear Bruised,

What your sister is doing is absolutely WRONG! You need to talk to your parents immediately. Why have you kept this from them? They need to know so that they can deal with your sister's violent behavior. Stop putting up with this abuse and talk to your parents right now. It's their job to keep you safe, but they can't help you if you don't speak up and let them know what's going on. Also you should know that staying silent sends your sister a message that what she's doing is OK. It is NOT OK and she needs to learn this.

I hope this helps.

In friendship,

Terra
