Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

Sex and Sexuality:
“Can having sex get you more curves and bigger breasts?”

Hey Terra,

My friends told me that if you start to have sex a lot you get a lot of shape meaning curves and breasts and your body starts to form out a lot and you get thick. I want to know is that true? My friend who is the same age as me was skinny like me and had a little bit of curves and small breasts, and she started to have sex with her bf and she got thick and her hips are out more.

Skinny

Dear Skinny,

Having sex has nothing to do with the way your body develops (unless you get pregnant and then your body is going to go through LOTS of changes!). "Curves and breasts" come from the type of body you inherited. For example, a woman who inherited a very thin body type may stay thin her whole life, even though she may marry and have children (whom she can very successfully breast feed no matter how small her breasts are!) She just may never have much in the way of "curves and breasts". If your friend's body changed in that direction after she started having sex with her boyfriend it was not because of the sex. It was because her body was ready to "fill out". It would have done that any way... on its own timetable, without the sex.

In friendship,

Terra
