Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

Sex and Sexuality:
“I gave my friend a hand-job because I thought he liked me.”

Hey Terra,

My friend and I were messing around one day and I ended up giving him a hand-job. I thought he liked me cuz we had a close friendship, but now my friend told me he never liked me. He still wants me 2 do it again and I don't know if he's asking me cause he likes me or what. What do you think? Does he like me or only wants to have his fun with me?

Wondering

Dear Wondering,

He's asking because you did it once and it felt good to him so he wants you to do it again. That's all he wants. It's all about him and what he wants. There's nothing romantic about a hand-job. He gets off. That's what he wants. But what do YOU want? My guess is that you want a relationship with a nice boy who really cares about you, as a person, and likes being with you. And you deserve to have that.

He seems to wants a relationship just with your hand. You deserve better than this! I believe you'd be making a mistake if you did it again. This boy is trying to use you. You want a relationship with him because you like him, but he just wants sex. Sex is not love. Don't confuse the two.

You want to know if he likes you, then see what happens if you say, "I won't give you another hand job. That's not going to happen. But how about if act like a boyfriend? You know, call me, hang out with me in between classes."

You'll see, very quickly, if he REALLY wants a relationship.

In the meantime, keep your hands in your pockets.

In friendship,

Terra
