Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

Jealousy:
“My gf wants me to spend more time with her.”

Hey Terra,

My friends make fun of my girlfriend and we fight all the time because I play baseball more than I spend time with her. I really like her a lot but we are growing farther apart every day. I don't know if I should break up with her or keep her and be like this and fight all the time. Or I just give her space and not see each other and stuff for awhile. What do you think?

Sad

Dear Sad,

You sign your letter "sad" and you say you and your gf "fight all the time." On top of that your gf is jealous of the time you spend playing baseball, obviously something you enjoy doing. This doesn't sound like a healthy relationship!

It sounds like she expects you to spend more time with her than you want to spend. If you two can't communicate your feelings and successfully negotiate an amount of time together that is "enough" for both you, then it might be better if you and she went your separate ways.

Talk about your feelings and listen to what she has to say. And then you'll be in a better position to decide what is right for you.

I hope this helps!

In friendship,

Terra
