Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

Rejection:
“I never seem to keep a friend for long.”

Hey Terra,

I don't seem to be able to keep a girl as a friend for long. Things will go great for a while, then they leave me for others. I am smart and cute and nice to everyone. I am even a 3-year cheerleader. But nobody likes me or sticks around for long. They never invite me to parties or vote for me for anything in school. I was finally asked out by a guy but got a ton of nasty remarks and notes about that and he broke up with me after 1 day thanks to my "friends."

What should I do?

Friendless Again

Dear Friendless Again,

You really haven't given enough information for me to help you. The way it sounds, you are this great person who is nice to everyone and for some unknown reason, nobody wants to be your friend. There must be another side to this story. Why do you think no one likes you? Do you have any idea what you do that others don't like?

If you honestly don't have a clue, I suggest you talk to your school counselor. Explain your situation and how you feel about the way others treat you. Hopefully, the counselor will be able to give you some helpful suggestions.

In friendship,

Terra
