Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

“People are spreading rumors about me and this guy I like.”
(Continued)

Hey Terra,

Thanks for the advice. But, I have another problem. Everyone thinks of me as mature, calm, almost boring. I feel too mature for my age. But, I don't know how 13 year olds act. So I guess at how I'm supposed to behave. It's embarrassing to go out and dance, even if I really want to. And plus I might embarrass myself in front of the guy I like. So what do I do?

Notadancer

Dear Notadancer,

There's always a chance when you do ANYTHING that someone is going to judge you. You've got no control over what other people think. But here's the thing, if you live your life constraining yourself because you're afraid to be judged, you'll spend a lot of time sitting around with your hands folded in your lap watching other people have fun.

Another thing to think about, if the guy you like is going to like you less because you're not the best dancer in the world, then he's probably not the best boyfriend in the world.

Know what I mean?

In friendship,

Terra
