Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

“My mom is so disappointed in me.”

Hey Terra,

I love him because he's so nice to me but he doesn't show it in front of his friends or my friends. Might it be that he doesn't trust me because I didn't use to trust him either? I love him so much and I've done so much for him too! I've been with him for one year and I say that I've done so much for him because my parents don't want me to be seeing him, and I've sneaked out and lied to my parents just to be with him!

Wondering

Dear Wondering,

It's not a good thing to be lying to your parents and sneaking out behind their backs. I'm sure that doesn't feel good to you, does it? And what do you think would happen if they caught you?

You say that maybe your boyfriend doesn't trust you now and that in the past you used to not trust him... If your parents caught you lying and sneaking what would happen to the trust they have in you?

I hear you say that you love him because he's "so nice" to you. But saying "I don't know" when people ask him if you two are going out, isn't so "nice." And accusing you of being with some other guy when you're not, isn't so "nice." Your parents love you and they want the best for you. If this guy is so nice, why don't they want you seeing him? (Just curious.)

In friendship,

Terra
