Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

“What if he's my true love?”
(Continued)

Hey Terra,

I guess you're right there, Terra. He's never basically said it to me that he loves me or likes me or he has feelings for me. And I'm there going around like an idiot texting him, phoning him. I did so much for him. He only phoned me once only coz I said "Please please!" to him and after 2 mins he said "Hurry up my credit is going and my battery is dying..."

I guess it was one sided love but I cannot convince my heart. I'm just so tempted to text him and phone him. What do you suggest next??

Unloved True Love

Dear Unloved True Love,

  1. Give your phone to your mom for a week (so you won't be tempted to call him.)
  2. Whenever you get the thought "I should call him!" Take a slow deep breath (or 2 or 3) and say this to yourself: "I deserve to be treated with respect. I'm worthy of love. I will no longer beg for attention from some guy who has no feelings for me. I can do MUCH better and I will!"
  3. Quit talking to your friends about him.
  4. Make some plans to do something that you enjoy every day of that week. (Going to a shop you've been curious about. Calling a friend you've not talked to for a while. Taking a walk in a park, etc.)

Try steps 1-4 for a week.

Good luck.

In friendship,

Terra
