Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

From Just Friends to more?:
“I like my ex's best friend.”

Hey Terra,

This is not really about my boyfriend. I broke up with my steady boyfriend of two years a month ago and before we broke up he became pretty good friends with one of my best friends, and now that friend and I want to be together. He is being a jerk and saying I am trying to ruin his friendship and that his friend and I really want to be together. But we are trying to wait until my ex cools down some because we don't want to ruin our friendship either (mine and my ex's). Should I wait or should I just go for it?

Confused baby girl

Dear Confused baby girl,

You say this isn't really about your boyfriend, but you're wrong. It is TOTALLY about your boyfriend and his feelings. You don't say why you broke up with him but if you are concerned about ruining the friendship you have with your ex, and your new guy has any interest in maintaining his friendship with your ex, I'd say the two of you should cool it.

Think about it this way: How would you feel if the situation was reversed and your best friend wanted to start going out with the guy that dumped you? It wouldn't feel too good, would it?

In friendship,

Terra
