Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

“Is my friend jealous of me and my boyfriend?”
(Continued)

Hey Terra,

I do feel cared for. And being around him makes me feel GREAT! I guess I'm just a little wrapped around my Best Friend's words. She has actually been a little jealous when I was going out with my last boyfriend when she didn't have one. So -- not that I'm accusing her or anything, but I'm wondering what stops her from being jealous this time? She shouldn't get in the way of our relationship anyway.

Wondering Hard

Dear Wondering Hard,

I had the feeling that your friend had a bit of her own agenda going on. She's clearly feeling a little jealous (even though she might not be willing to admit it). Is it possible that you spend less time with her since you've had a boyfriend and maybe she misses being with you? If you look at it that way, maybe you'll have a little more compassion for her. Trying to turn you away from your boyfriend wasn't cool, but if you understand that she loves you and may be missing the closeness you have when you're not with a bf, you might not be so angry with her.

How about talking to her, not necessarily about what she said, but about your determination NOT to lose her friendship because of any guy? That would probably put her mind and heart at ease.

In friendship,

Terra
