Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

“I can't figure out who I am.”

Hey Terra,

Because they are true =-(

Clueless

Dear Clueless,

It sounds like you're feeling kinda sorry for yourself, Clueless. And if a friend of yours was feeling sorry for herself in that way and said, "I'm such a loser, everyone is prettier than me and has better hair and I'm like ugggh." What would you say to her? Would you say, "Too bad but everything you're saying about yourself is true." Would you? If you would, you're not much of a friend. Which is my point. You're not being a friend to yourself to talk trash like that about yourself. Here's a newsflash for you, if you want a happier life then you've got to start with having a more positive attitude. I mean, why would anyone want to be with someone who has such a low opinion of herself? Don't you see how you are totally contributing to the way you see yourself and the way in which others see you?

Until you realize that the choices you make are all you can control in this life (including your choice to think negative things about yourself), you will be clueless about how to be happier.

Want to be happier? Or would you rather believe that you're a "loser"? Your life. Your choice.

In friendship,

Terra
